It measures the peak speed at which you expel air from your lungs (the peak expiratory flow or PEF). The higher the PEF, the more open your airways. The lower the PEF, the more narrow your airways (as in asthma). Using the Personal Best Peak Flow Meter can help you identify triggers, detect subtle changes, and alert you to asthma flare-ups before they occur.
